Throw me to the altar
Lean over and whisper
Disburden my body of its soul
Claim it as a sacrifice
Set the rest on fire

Throw me to the altar
Head coerced onto the marble
I’ll feel the warmth before the scorch
The scent of the burnt offering
God would be envious

Throw me to the altar
Savor it as a deity you are
My shrieks throughout the pain deafening
Perceive yet ignore them all
